 Back to School Community Outreach 2018                                                                                                                                             

August 12 4-6 pm

Each August families of the community are invited to come to DBC to receive backpacks filled with school supples, shoes, hair cuts, dental checkups and a hot meal. This needed community outreach requires a team effort of many people. Volunteers in all areas are appreciated.

 

 

 

ALL STARS

Contact us if you are interested in helping. Sign up for both basketball and volleyball takes place in November each year with games beginning in January. Coaches will be decided on after the teams are picked. Even if you can only attend a fraction of the time you will be a great help. All coaches will be required to submit a background check.

 

Baptist Men on Mission:                     

                                                                                                               

Jeremy Bennett heads up this organization which includes men from DBC as well as other Baptist churches in the area. Men of all ages are encouraged to meet the second Saturday of each month at designated locations for breakfast and a community service project. As the need arises, men will be inivted to participate in additional service projects.

 

  • July 2 - Cookout/Rally at Union Grove Baptist Church
  • July 14- Breakfast meeting @Galatia First Baptist Church beginning at 8 am.
  • July 19 - Meet at Harrisburg First Baptist Church to help serve meals at HIS TABLE from 4:30-6:30

Join Carletta Hanks one Saturday of each month to bake cookies to distribute to people in our community that would enjoy some homemade cookies and a short visit. For more information contact the church office.

 

Mercy Center   

                                                                                                                                                                              Mercy Center collects and distributes gently used mens, women and children clothing of all sizes to give to those in need in our community.  They also provide a new set of clothing to men who are reentering society after their prison term. On the last Tuesday of each month a luncheon is served at noon.

Volunteers are welcomed to help sort clothing, assist families needing clothing and help prepare the monthly meal for Mercy Center clients.  See Andrea Rector for more information on how to be involved in this minstry.

Hours of operation are Tuesdays from 10 am to 2 pm during the spring and summer.  The last day to be open for 2018 is in October.  It will reopen in the spring of 2019
